April Is Surf Month

Throughout April, Amigos is celebrating Surf Month. We'll be throwing surf inspired events and all of our surf related items will be on display. We'll even have a great new door installation by Megan Plunkett.

Below is the rundown of events and you can download our printable .PDF flier here.

Wednesday April 20th 7PM

Join us for a free screening of Kathryn Bigelow’s seminal 1994 surf film, Point Break.

To coincide with the film screening we will be releasing a new Amigos title, Fifty Year Storm, by Ian Stillman. A record of Ian’s six month long trip to Australia, the book tackles how to accurately portray the often stereotyped country. While compelling as it is, Fifty Year Storm offers a humorous look full of kangaroos, beatiful seaside communities, and sun baked beach dwellers.

Sunday April 24th 4PM

Providence surf rockers, Novus 2 will be performing a free show with Sad Ghems, Birthdays, and Panda Teeth. BYOB and beach vibes.

Ongoing: 01 Too Much Workload

Come check out this month’s door installation by Megan Plunkett, who continues her fascination with surf culture and plasters our door with surf wax molded coins.

Plunkett (b. 1985, Los Angeles) lives and works between Baltimore and New York. She is the co-founder, with Dan Wagner, of the Kingsboro Press.
