Paul Cowan Event @ Golden Age

Dear Chicago-ers, Golden Age, in their new location at 119 N Peoria St. #2D, is having a sweet grand opening/event and will be showing work from local artist Paul Cowan. The event takes place on March 27 from 7 to 10. The show is entitled Alla Prima, which according to the store's website, is "a painting technique in which the work is completed in one session without time for the paint to dry, but the term is also more loosely applied to any painting done in a direct, expressive style, with minimal preparation." We def. suggest you check it out! More info can be found on their blog here.

Molls Does the Cure.

Plainsong from Slippy Jenkins on Vimeo.

So I don't really like this version of this video with the Cure song as much as I like the real deal, which you can view here. The OG video, made by Molly McAleer and Jim Kleckner was filmed at LACMA and is really cool in a tranquil, CD-of-ocean-sounds kind of way. Molly McAleer, better known in the tumbln' blogosphere as Molls, is possibly one of the best minds of our generation. If you want pop cultural commentary that cuts like a knife, I highly recommend her blog (which has tonz of QT pics of her dog as a bonus).
