What's up with the Editors

The pretty faces behind Amigos have been busy doing life and cooking up some sweet happenings for the company. More info on those happenings will be available later this week...In the meantime, we thought we'd let you know what we've been up to IRL. Nick is psyched to announce that he is now doing some blogging (and hopefully some vlogging) over at ESPN. He recently had the chance to interview Ryan McGinley homeboy/photographer extraordinaire Chad Moore. You can peep that interview HERE. You can also view more of Chad's work and be in contact with him on his website here. Enjoy!

Kewl show up at Space 1520

MAIN STREET: AN EXHIBITION OF NEW VIDEO ART AND ANIMATION is up at the Hollywood gallery/UO store Space 1520. The show features video work by greats such as Peter Sutherland, Miranda July and Lucky Dragons. The (debatably) best video is by Andrew Sutherland, cleverly entitled "Trail Mix", the 20+ minute long video is a sometimes beautiful/sometimes hilarious montage of images from mountain biking trips on the road. The show is up until Dec. 6 so we definitely recommend checking it out if you get the chance. You can view all the details here.

New Mark Gonzales via Elk

One of my favorite publishing/art/cool things, Elk, has produced a new Mark Gonzales publication in conjunction with his “Round N’ Round” exhibition at New York’s Franklin Parrasch Gallery in October and November 2009. Sometimes the Gonz hype is a little much for me but there is no question that I'm still a big fan. And if you haven't had an opportunity to click around or even look at an actual copy of Elk, I think it would be in your best interest to get your hands on one. Just saying.

002 News Again

While we've clearly slacked considerably on our second publication of Amigos, I can assure you that it is a reality. In fact, it should be off to the printer this week. We also have a nice little extra that it will come with and we are extremely happy with how everything is coming together. Excuse our slacking though, we hung out in Portland and took a much needed, but terribly short, vacation.

Inspiration

Point Break
While we have slacked immensely on 002 of Amigos, we finally managed to lock down pretty much everything and we're looking for a release in about a month. In the meantime for inspiration we've been watching Point Break and the video below. Well I have anyway. I'm not sure what Kerry has been doing, probably looking at this photo. 4 million times.

Welcome to Amigos Publishing

Amigos Publishing doesn't pretend to be cooler than it is. We don't want to hide the fact that we publish work by artists that happen to be our friends. There is no secret or pretense to the way we work or the work we put out. Here at Amigos we believe art and art-making should be accessible to everyone. To put it simply we publish our friends and we are always looking for more friends.
Feel free to contact us at amigospublishing@gmail.com.
